France, 1963
With a stance that aims to go beyond old notions of authorship, the couple formed by Helena Cabello and Ana Carceller have managed to produce a work whose process of (conceptual and formal) execution is in tune with that concept of shared authorship: discussions, negotiations, doubts, agreements… and, even more, in keeping with what life as a couple is, in a community with another person. Alongside their work as artists, Cabello and Carceller work as art critics (Diario 16 and El Periódico del Arte) and exhibition curators (the show “Espacio F”, at the Espai d'Art Contemporani in Castellón), placing particular, though not exclusive, emphasis on feminist theory. The theme of a diffuse identity and otherness, which is constantly narrated by others, appears in both aspects of their work: the artistic and the theoretical. Extended sculpture, photography, video and drawing are the main resources used by Cabello and Carceller.
